Welcome to aiforindustry.ca. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) describe the rules and responsibilities that apply when you use this website and related online services provided by AI for Industry/Canadian Industrial AI Consortia (“CIAIC”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Scope
These Terms apply to your access and use of the aiforindustry.ca website, forms, downloadable materials, and any online services provided directly on this site. Separate agreements govern membership, pilot projects, data sharing, and other collaborative activities; those agreements take precedence over these Terms where they apply.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your province) and legally able to enter into contracts to use this site and to submit forms.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the site lawfully and respectfully. You must not:
-
Submit false, misleading, illegal, infringing, or malicious content;
-
Interfere with site operation, attempt unauthorized access, or disrupt other users; or
-
Use the site for unsolicited marketing or spam.
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend access for violations.
4. Submissions & Intellectual Property
a. General submissions
When you submit content via forms, you warrant that you have the right to submit it and grant CIAIC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, and display the submission for the purposes of evaluation, administration, promotion, and operation of the consortium, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
b. Confidential material
Do not submit confidential or proprietary information unless you have a signed NDA or project agreement in place. Submissions are not confidential by default. Proposals and datasets will be handled under the terms of specific project agreements or NDAs once a formal relationship is established.
c. Site content and IP
All content on this site (text, graphics, logos, icons, images, code) is owned or licensed by CIAIC and is protected by copyright and other IP laws. You may view and download site content only for non-commercial, informational use unless we expressly permit otherwise.
5. Membership & Pilot Agreements
Information about membership tiers, fees, and benefits will be provided in the Membership Kit and governed by separate membership agreements. Acceptance of pilot projects, hosting options, data residency, IP ownership, and liability will be governed by project-specific agreements signed before any pilot or production deployment.
6. Third-Party Services & Links
The site may link to third-party sites or use external service providers (hosting, analytics, payment processors). Links are provided for convenience; we do not endorse or accept responsibility for third-party content or policies. Where third parties process personal data, we require reasonable contractual safeguards; see our Privacy Policy for details.
7. Disclaimers & No Professional Advice
Content on the site is provided for general information only and does not constitute legal, financial, technical, or professional advice. We use reasonable efforts to keep information current, but make no warranties regarding accuracy or completeness.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CIAIC and its directors, officers, employees, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the site or reliance on its content. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability; where such limits are prohibited, liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold CIAIC and its representatives harmless from any claims, liabilities, losses, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms, misuse of the site, or violation of applicable law.
10. Privacy & Data Protection
Your use of the site is subject to our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information and the rights available to you under Canadian law (PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws).
11. Security & Account Information
Where the site provides account functionality, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of login credentials and for all activity performed under your account. Notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorized use.
12. Accessibility
We strive to make the site accessible and comply with WCAG 2.1 AA where practicable. See our Accessibility Statement for details and contact options if you encounter barriers.
13. Changes to the Site or Terms
We may modify site features or these Terms at any time. Material changes to these Terms will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. You should review these Terms periodically.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the site in cases of suspected abuse, legal obligation, or if we cease operations. Termination does not affect accrued rights or obligations.
15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein. Parties agree to submit to the exclusive courts of that province for disputes. If you prefer an alternative dispute resolution (mediation), contact us and we will consider it in good faith.
16. Severability & Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remainder will continue in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any membership/project agreements, constitute the entire agreement between you and CIAIC relating to use of the site.
